Mr. Kushner graduated from the Moorestown Friends School in Moorestown, New Jersey in the top of his class. He went on to Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he graduated with honors on the Dean's List, and was pre-law and earned a B.S. in Political Science.
Mr. Kushner graduated from Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware as a member of the Criminal Law Club and of the Entertainment Law Society. He authored and published a legal research article on "Gulf War Syndrome" for the law review "Widener Law Symposium Journal." Working with the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, Mr. Kushner learned the initial ropes of criminal law. Working as a judicial extern for Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Ethan Doty, and as a summer associate for the defense firm of Margolis Edelstein, LLC, Mr. Kushner garnered the legal research and caseload real world experience to launch him to his next stop -- the law firm of Maressa, Goldstein, LLC, where he was an associate of Mark Oddo, Esquire, former President of the Bar Association.
He then launched his own private law practice, Kushner Law, LLC.
Mr. Kushner appears daily in the area's courts. He spends 5-7 hours each week faithfully reading fresh case law and legislation (very often "brand new law" which has heavy impact on trial attorneys within 24 hours), in order to stay highly on top of his areas of practice. He attends 95% of the "Municipal Court Committee" meetings and "Criminal Law Committee" meetings of the Bar Association in order to stay abreast of this "brand new law." These meetings are attended by judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys and meet regularly.
Mr. Kushner annually lectures to other attorneys as a panel member of the Continuing Legal Education (C.L.E.) seminar "Municipal Court Practice." He has litigated numerous intellectual property claims before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) of the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Kushner has represented various clients in the music industry, including artists, managers, producers, record labels, and music publishing firms. He has maintained meaningful connections with various A&R staff at most major record labels. He has brokered deals involving artists such as Linkin Park, DMX, Jagged Edge, Ginuwine, Tank, Bubba Sparks, Eminem, and Platinum Plus Entertainment.
Mr. Kushner serves as a member of the attorney advisory board of StarPolish.com, the popular industry collaborative of more than 40 of the most highly respected music industry executives from both the major and independent sections of the industry.
On June 13, 2014, Mr. Kushner was appointed and sworn in as a Trustee of the Camden County Bar Association (3-year term), by Supreme Court Justice Faustino J. Fernandez.
On August 20, 2012, the President of the Camden County Bar Association, Brenda Lee Eutsler, Esquire, appointed Mr. Kushner to be a Delegate to the General Council of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
On May 2, 2009, Mr. Kushner was appointed and sworn in as a Trustee of the Camden County Bar Foundation (charitable wing of the Bar Association) by the Honorable Michele M. Fox, Judge of the Law Division.
Mr. Kushner is a Law Enforcement Agent of the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (N.J.S.P.C.A. Police), Burlington County Chapter, Law Enforcement Division.
Animal rights and animal welfare is Mr. Kushner's GREATEST passion. He works tirelessly to fight for and address the plague of animal abuse and neglect.
Mr. Kushner served as general counsel and was a member of the Board of Directors for over five years of the Animal Orphanage in Voorhees, New Jersey, a non-profit animal shelter that saves thousands of homeless cats and dogs from destruction or starvation and boasts a high pet adoption rate.
Mr. Kushner volunteers his time with the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (PVLA) and has been an active member for years.
Mr. Kushner is a member of the American Bar Association, the Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Camden County Bar Association, the Municipal Court Committee of the Camden County Bar Association, the Criminal Practice Committee of the Camden County Bar Association, the Young Lawyers Committee of the Camden County Bar Association, the Courthouse Facilities Committee of the Camden County Bar Association, the Public Benefits Committee of the Camden County Bar Association, the Public Education Committee of the Camden County Bar Association, and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (Grammy Awards).
